Kickstart After-school Program

In 2026, Starfire launched our latest community impact program: Kickstart. Starfire’s Kickstart After-school Program is a free youth program that combines academics with athletics. Designed for students who would otherwise be unable to participate in organized sports or extra curriculars, Kickstart removes the financial and logistical barriers that too often keep kids on the sidelines. By partnering with schools that are Title 1 or part of the Meals for Washington Students program in the south King County area we are bringing this program to those in our community who need it the most.

With donor support, Kickstart provides each child with a full set of soccer gear, reliable transportation to Starfire, healthy snacks, and high-quality instruction in both soccer and STEM, all at no cost to families. Each weekly training session intentionally combines academic support in reading and STEM, life skills development, and structured soccer training, followed by competitive soccer games on weekends that allow kids to apply teamwork, discipline, and perseverance in a real-world setting.

Kickstart is more than a place to play. It is a safe, consistent environment where students build confidence, form positive relationships with mentors, and experience the pride that comes from learning new skills and being apart of a team. By integrating education and athletics, the program supports the whole child physically, academically, and socially.

When you give to Kickstart, you’re not just funding a program, you’re expanding access and creating opportunity. Your investment ensures that cost, transportation, and circumstance never determine a child’s ability to learn, grow, and thrive. Together, we can get more kids in the game and set them on the path toward long-term success.

Unlike other Starfire programs, the public cannot enroll in Kickstart independently. Kickstart is a partnership between Starfire and schools in our community. We identify schools that have a high population of students in need of support and partner with them to provide the Kickstart Program to their students. All school we partner with are Title 1 or part of the Meals for Washington Students program. Students  at participating schools sign up through their school administration and Starfire works with the school to ensure effective communication and safety for everyone involved.

If you are interested in bringing Kickstart to your school, have your school’s administration reach out to outreach@starfiresports.com

Kickstart is primarily funded through the generosity of our donors. Without them, this program could not continue to exist. Unfortunately, there is always more demand than we can currently fund, so we continue to ask for your support. To make a one time or recurring donation to Kickstart, click the “Donate Today” button at the top of this page.

If you are interested in becoming a sponsor of the Kickstart program, please reach out to us at outreach@starfiresports.com
